P38 4.6 petrol year 2000 keep getting gearbox fault come up then the d for drive gose off gearbox puts its self into sports mode till you turn the engine of the it's gose back to normal but for the d you get on dash had it plugged in nothing there idears please

Check under the carpet in the drivers side footwell for wetness.

Thank you iv checked that and yes there is about a four inch patch just in front of the seat I'll dry it and see cheers

Have your battery tested as well and check the output from the alternator. Do you have a multi-meter or DVM?

There’s AC drain pipes there somewhere too

Very common for both the heater matrix o rings to leak.

Also there are a handful of places under the scuttle where water will get in.

Shame range rovers don't have fart flaps like on the old series' and defenders.

Drying the carpet may help but may not sort the problem as there may be condensation inside the BECM and/or corrosion in the connectors.

But thanks again for all your help
