Like all applications of lube it is designed to reduce friction during assemblyThe set I received from 4x4airseals has a small plastic bag with some liquid gel or Vaseline I would presume this is for the O-rings, yeah?
Otherwise you get like a compressor I did the other day which was full of powdered sealant in everything. They only supply a vey small amount and on instructions he says just for assembly purpose, as little to be used.

Definitely sealant its stuck all over. In the slots for O rings, between mating surfaces. You can feel the rubbery texture when it was peeled off. I changed air dryer for a brand new one 18mnths ago so would be disappointed if had started braking up by nowThat tends to be from the desiccant in the air-dryer breaking down if it is white powder.
If it's a P38, there is a dryer for the EAS, follow the air pipe going forward from the valve block to the black canister. Should be replaced at reasonable intervals or the desiccant breaks up and contaminates the valve block.i have a 2002 vintage RR .....is there an air dryer on these or is that what you guy's call the compressor? asking for a friend
I don't see that so i'm guessing that my RR is a early L322....it's build date is 02 but Vin suggests that it's 03. huh
