Got my gearbox delivered yesterday, bought what i thought to be a disco box, turns out i got a RR manual gear box the one with the viscous coupling, anybody had any dealings with this type of box are they any good, and what oil would they take ?

Oil is Texaco MTF 94, main problem will be the viscous coupling, others can tell you more.
Transfer box uses ATF Dexron IId or III.

just googled it and they seem to have a bad reputation of seizing up, so i am sending it back, anybody got a spare lt77 to sell ?

Yep, VCU is a PITA, a diff lock would be better.

Im breaking a Classic Range Rover 1987 with a manual gearbox, still in vehicle, so could be driven up and down my drive.

Hi, thanks colin from hull, I have managed to get one its being delivered tomorrow, only done 80,000,but would have been interested, fingers crossed hope this one is ok
