Ok, firstly I'm new to forum, but I'm looking forward to taking part. I've had my Rangie for a couple of years now, it's an 06MY Vogue, and I love it to bits. I also love my iPhone 3GS, the problem is, they don't love each other thanks to Apple!

Ever since Apple updated the iPhone software to IOS 4 (? - when the iPhone 4 came in), the bluetooth phone connection constantly drops in and out - very frustrating, especially as it was fine before the update, and Apple refuse to admit there's a problem. I had the vehicle software updated, which enabled the transfer of the contacts from the phone about a year ago, so that's not the issue.

I've given up on Apple sorting the phone out, so I thought I'd search for a cradle for the iPhone. No luck with Land Rover, so I tried BMW (someone said that the system was the same), I drove to the dealer to try it - but, although the connecting plug is the same, clearly the BMW cubby hole is a different shape so it wouldn't fit. Now, I could fork out the £50+ and butcher it, but the BMW system only charges the phone and connects it to the vehicle aerial, not the iDrive. Not worth the risk, as this wouldn't remove the need to connect by bluetooth.

All of which means I'm back where I started, with a great car, a great phone, and rubbish integration (thanks Apple).

Am I missing something? Does anyone else have this issue, found a solution?

Thanks for reading.

Hi

just a thought why dont you go back to the previous version of s/w for the iphone have been told that your current version is a lot slower on the iphone 3 models and not to upgrade to s/w ver 4.

Yer Can't Tony you can only UP grade not DOWN grade ... & Even if you could everytime you "Sinc it" to Itunes it'll try to UP grade back to OS4 ...

Apple "Crippled" the Bluetooth functions usin OS4 to stop yer sending songs to yer mates ect .. there is a "Hack" to re enable it ... I'll ring a few Buds I have & get it fer ya .....

be back ASAP

hi
ive got a 2004 with no bluetooth so i had a parrot kit fitted but iphone 3gs kept disconecting and playing up. parrot told me to do a hard reset withe the phone and reconect with the car so far 10 months on all is ok. just hold down both buttons until apple logo apears then leave it for a few miniuts to reboot (you dont loose any data) it might be worth a try?

Hi all

yes i know you cant officailly downgrade but as keith says you can get a crack and downgrade I have a freind who does this for £15 a fix has done both mine and the wifes iphone 3g phone back to os v3 something after we noticed how slow they were on v4.

so can give you a contact to downgrade s/w or keep tryin other fixes.

Tony:)

Thanks for all your quick replies, I'll try the hard reset, but I'd like to avoid hacking if poss (not sure if that's because I don't want to muck around with the phone, or whether this is something that the companies should solve and therefore I'm being stubborn! :) )

John Steele - you're a genius! Hard reset, followed by deleting the pairing and re-doing has solved the issue. A full hour's drive with a single drop! Recent searches on google show that nearly all integrated car systems have this problem, yet nobody had mentioned this solution.
Hopefully I won't have to re-pair it everytime, but even then I would know how to get it working!
Thank you again!
