Hi Everyone

I'm new to the forum but have been reading it for some time. Normally the problems I get have already been posted lol

Bascially I have a 2000 p38. Me being a fool deadlocked it in error. No a big deal I've done it before.

However the EKA code is inside the range rover, but thats just the start.

It turns out the lock on the driver door is now broken, in that it doesnt move the lock up and down inside the car, it just turns left to right, its still dpring loaded but it doesnt feel like its doing anything.


Using a bit of metal I was able to open the bonet and the battery is fine (I have hoped it was that)


So that leavs me with a P38 that I cant open, and even if I could I wouldnt know what to do with it.

The BECM has been dealarmed and deimmobilised so that I suppose might mi ake it a bit easier.


The AA are also unable to recover the vehicle as its parked in an undergroup car park, with a call in front of it and pillars either side and the steering lock is on.


(Could it get any worse lol)



Your thoughts on this would be most welcome

try asking your local r/rover dealer for the EKA code.
 
They key fob does nothing, neither of them do. Which made me think it was the flat battery, the battery is however fine and I can see the light flashing on the dash too.


I've triped pulling up the locks using a metal bar from outside, but even when up they dont allow me to open the doors, thats what made me think its deadlocked.

The key in the drivers door turns left and right as it would normally, but there doesnt appear to be any load on it, and it doesnt move the inside lock indicator up or down.

if its definately deadlocked,yes you are.you might have to put a window in to get inside.:eek::eek::eek:

Putting a window through will be cheaper than paying the specialist charges to get it out.

How many levels does the vehicle have to go up to get out of the car park?


pssssssst. GD, Tell him to disconnect the battery for 10 mins and then re-connect it and try his fobs out.
 
The car park is on group level, but I have a corner spot with a wall opposite me, thus I have to reverse it in. And there are posts either side of it, which prevent it being moved any way but straight. Which is impossible.

I could get some car skates which would probably work, the hand brake is off but its in park. Using a rod I could probably get it out of park

That said even if I could move it, would Stratstone be able to do it without smashing a window?
 
i have just been informed by a clever man,a very clever man,that disconnect the battery for ten mins then re-connect the battery and see if the fobs work then,make sure you have the radio code though.this info will cost you loads of bags of chips if it works.:D:D;);)

skates would be my weapon of choice in this situation. Did you turn the key or use the fob to lock the car?

OK on the battery, the AA guy tried it for all of 2 minutes today, the bonnet isnt closed as such so I could do it over a longer period.
What I did notice was, when the battery was reconnected there was a noise from every lock

ok,just try as i have suggested,if it does not work get someone to try and open the door when the battery is first connected,but be bloody quick.:D
 
Well its worth a go, sounds better than smashing glass lol

Breakdown clubs will charge between £100 and £250 to uplift your vehicle in it's current state. Smashing a window would most probably be cheaper. Don't do it yet though. Try what gemsdad said first. If that doesn't work ask him if there's anything else you can try. I'm sure he'll come up with something. He's a clever bloke.:p
