After a recent long drive i have noticed a ticking / tapping when I slow down in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear, especially when using the engine to slow down. It disappears completely when in 4th gear or when the clutch pedal is depressed. I can hear this noise in neutral also but alot quieter and becomes silent when i depress the clutch.
If I put into low range i hear this noise ticking in every gear except 4th (when driving & slowing, louder when slowing down in gear) . Again it stops if i depress the clutch - i hear the ticking/tapping slow down & then stop. I can hear this noise when in neutral (transfer box &/or main box) also but quieter and becomes silent when i depress the clutch.
It sounds like its coming from transfer / gear box /clutch area.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas would be great.
