Anyone got a range rover classic for sale/possibly for sale, must be 2.5 diesel ideally manual with leather, dark color , but open to options really

located in portsmouth/hampshire area, so not too far away, not seeing many for sale let alone any local to go see even and get a feel for them

Good luck!
Got a feeling you'll need it

I was prepared to travel the length of the country for a decent classic, and that was without being so specific.

They are around, but the best seem to be at specialist dealers & are very pricey. As with any car that was so sadly lacking in corrosion protection from new you only get what you pay for.

think your right guys, there doesnt seem to be many about, no harm in making a post to ask, ive got till november to find me a new 4x4 , a nice classic is the dream, even an ok ish one that needs a little bit of love would be an option, wel see what turns up

anyone got any advice about classic specific things to check for when looking at one should any come up ?

With this in mind take a look at ebay item number 250875944052

looks nice, but as these are appriciating a bit..a 3.8v8 thats has aa 300tdi engine conversion and isnt "original" no service history, is 4k a lot ?

In my opinion the tdi is more useable and obviously far more economical (easy 30mpg) .If it is as good as the advert says it could be worth the money. It depends on how much you want one really.

of course, i would only want a diesel one, but just ment 4k for a petrol one with a diesel non original engine- has lost originality in that sense, and a high price for that ?

I dont think it is that expensive at all actually IF it is genuinely rust free. That would make it very rare.It will be very interesting to see what others think.

to be honest i have no idea about these..its just generally with "classic" cars, they are worth more/a premium price if all totaly original, ie if it was an original diesel one with a diesel engine, would be worth a premium ? although ultimatly it doesnt really matter too much

Aside from being a Classic its about as far away from your spec as you could get but theres a nice looking LSE (LPG converted) on ebay at the moment - at £850. No tax or mot and been SORN`d for 2 years but 103k miles AND it has the seatback picnic tables, which are like hens teeth. Its silver with black leather interior, on nice looking wheels, doesn`t have the Brooklands kit, has tailgate issues (no surprises), does have the lpg certificate, and sounds like it has good if not full service history. It was the only one on ebay when I looked so you should be bale to find it if you`re interested

You did say "must be deisel "and a rust free one for £850 is a litte optamistic i think ........but possible.........

cant find that one ? bit if a classic must be diesel, dont think insurance a v8 would be viable as cheap as a 2.5 diesel, which cost me £200 a year or under as a 3rd car

cant find that silver one ?

but im prepared to pay good money for the right one if it can be found, open to options of a cheaper solid reliable but in need of tlc, or a decent example for good money

Yes, it is over priced. The seats don't match the doorcards or carpets and ya can fookin SEE rust in the pictures, even though its stated its rust free!

DOU!!:doh::doh::doh:

With £1500 in ya pocket you should be able to find a reasonable USER that runs on Satans spawn juice.
If it's a Petrol model with a diesel engine conversion (which is far more likely with RRCs), check that its been done properly n with diesel engine mounts NOT the original V8 ones. If it rattles like a barstard it needs proper mounts. Its never gonna be as smooth as a V8, but it shouldnt be rattling your teeth out.

Loads of things to check when looking over RRCs. A biggee thing is rear cross member. n back end. Not an expensive part, but its a pain to do or expensive on labour if ya find a garage to do it. A littly thing (but annoying) is to check ya heater fan runs at all speeds. If only running at hi (pos 3) speed, means the ballast resistor under the decker panel needs replacing.
Brakes. check their pullin straight and front swivel joints aren't leaking big time.
Check all electrics if its had a TD conversion done too.

thanks mate, any other things to check ? il compile a check list and take it with me if i can find one to view

to be honest- i dont have a budget as such, ideally if i can get something for 2k thats im happy with- il be delighted , but 2.5-3k i can go to if i wished, but ideally 1500-2.5 range would suit me
