Hi, I'm about to pick up a 1988 RR 3.5 EFi Auto and haven't been able to find anywhere on teh web which says what the speed rating of the tyres should be. Can anyone shed any light on this?

all info. gratefully received

S, T or H would be more than ample if it's a standard spec.

Engine is standard but vehicle is fitted with a 2" lift kit and is currently fitted with 265/70/16 tyres (not sure of the speed rating). Will the suspension mods and wider tyres make a difference to the speed rating required?

The speed rating is exactly that. H rating is up to 130mph - not something you are likely to see in a Classic. S and T are 113 and 118 mph respectively. A general rule of thumb is the higher the rating the more plies or strength in the tyre although not always the case. Tyre brands are a better guage of quality e.g. Pirelli or Goodyear rather than something the fitter can't pronounce properly!

If you try to do more than tone you will break summit or run out of fuel so you will be ok with s rated.

Khumo all terrains have been good, including in the snow and they are only about £55 fitted

£55 fitted seems pretty good - what size is that? Sounds like a silly question but what size was standard from new?

I believe the tyres on there at the moment are 265/70/16s. Am I right in thinking that 235/70/16 was standard (on the Vogue/ Vogue SE)?

Sorry for so many silly questions.

If you need the speed rating, you're drivng someone else's motor!!

235/70/16 is the size for the Vogue alloys

Yeah thats what I have got, and they are good cheap all rounders and are wearing well!
