Hi everyone.,
I hsave just become the pround owner of a sound 1992 J reg Range Rover SE. It has 135000 miles, but everything works (except cruise control) and I am in the process of 'smartening it up'.

I am trying to get hold of a Plymouth Blue front valance - with or without lights - can anyone help and point me in the right direction?

From what I have read, great website and lots of people ready to help - I daresay I will have more questions as a novice!!!

Cheers

Derek

Ah another classic owner!Have you tried paddocks/craddocks?Their always my first call.Ive also been using DLS lately, but you havent said where your from

Derek,

I have a 91 Vogue SE, I toyed with the idea of smartening it up, then after a few problems here and there and a bit of laning I thought I would just get out there and enjoy using the thing. Then of course there is the never ending battle with the tin worm (I think I'm winning at the moment!).

If you look on Eblag you should be able to find a front valance. It may well be the case it will be easier just to get one that is in reasonable order and spray it yourself to match your car.

Anyway, welcome. As for cruise control, check the vacuum pump runs, you can do this by sticking power directly into it, can't remember off hand which way round you need to put power and ground, but not difficult to figure out. If pump is good I would go for the spiral cassette behind the steering wheel. The ribbon cable breaks and stops you from being able to set the cruise control. A repair is possible but easier to look out for a replacement cassette. There is of course the possibility the cruise control ECU is duff but I never got round to having to test it so would start with the easier bits above.

I just replaced the spiral cassette and the cruise works a treat.

Hope that helps.

Classic Kev.

Hi Kev,

Thank you for the info and help, especially about the cruise control.

I am near Reading - however I have heard that paddocks deliver pretty quickly. I think you may be right - geta second hand one and paint it up - mine is a good old horse ( its a lpg conversion which helps a bit), and in pretty good condition for its age, just wanted to smarten it up a bit.

Cheers

Derek
