One of the good things about this forum is peoples honesty!
I’m gutted that D4’s have such bad engine issues as one of them would be perfect for me so there I was thinking a RR would do as their engines aren’t time bombs. But from what folks are saying on this thread and elsewhere on the forums they have their own issues like electrics and being so complex. Getting a £70-80k car for less than £10k appeals but it seems they are less than £10k for a reason!
My old 90 TD5 gives very little bother, 232,000 miles and only one clutch 30,000 miles ago, chassis is good, only issue it has is the body is a bit bruised and battered and it needs a new rear rub and the bit the seats are on. It won’t be going anywhere but it’s not the most civilised thing for commuting and with the straight pipe you can’t even hear the radio! It’s remapped as well so it’s great for towing but on long distance hauls the noise can be a bit much. Think I’m gonna put a disco 2 transfer box in it to help on the road or even an auto if I can do it for sensible money.
Landcruiser Amazon’s are quite dear but there is a reason for that. One pal has one and loves it. I might look into the other land cruisers a bit but not sure if they’d re as well made.
