Hello have a 2.5 dse when starting it up the only way to do it without out it just constantly turning over ( hot or cold ) is too turn the key until the ignition lights come on let the two yellow lights go out then turn the key back to off position then turn the key back wait for the two yellow lights to go out again and it starts straight away
Is this normal?
Thanks Darren

If you change the glow plugs do not fit cheapo's they are a waste of time, use BERU which are OEM or NGK, Delphi or Bosch.

They don't show them on line but I discovered that Europarts do Beru plugs at a sensible price.

However, before you do this you might want to check your in-tank fuel pump. The simplest way, but not necessarily the cheapest these days, is to fill the tank up as much as you can afford (over 1/4 but the more the better) and see if your starting improves.

Otherwise you could look at the clear bit of fuel pipe under the bonnet to see if there is fuel without bubbles, or disconnect the pipe and get a mate to crank it over and see if you have an immediate, good flow of diesel.

Basically however, unless you know that all of the work has been done it's worth replacing the in-tank pump, the glow plugs and the leak-off pipes. For about £250 you could buy the lot along with some decent degreaser and clean out your intercooler and inlet manifold whilst your at it.

As the starting problem is hot and cold, I would go first for leak off pipes, then in tank pump and finally glow plugs. Oh and has the fuel filter been changed recently?

it is all to true that cheep glow plugs do not work please save yourself the trouble of changing them twice ...i didnt and fitted a twenty pound set from ebay and thay worked fine ..for two days then it wouldent start it was then 4 weeks befor i changed them again for a oem set but that month i changed leekoff pipes and pump in tank and fuel filter always listen to senior members OEM GLOWPLUGS
