Hi Everyone !
I Bought A Range Rover Hse 1996 ..
Somebody Can Tell Me Why My Left Side Front Window Doesn't Goes Up With One Touch ? By The Way , There's A Message Telling Me That " Window Not Set " And Every Time I Press The Window Power Button I Hear A Sound And That Message Appears .
Thank's .

Your window needs to be re-set. This is easy to do. Press the window open, and hold all the way down. Then press window close until it goeas all the way up. This should ten re-set the window, and it will work on one touch.

You have to do this for all your windows if the battery has been changed or disconnected.

Cheers

Hi,

I have the same problem with the right hand front window but it will not set even when I follow these instructions. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Faz

I'll go along with that-the window regulators are not quite up to the job and the stripping of the teeth is a common problem. Easy to replace just make sure you have some pop rivets or better still fit Rivnuts and screws during the refit. Can get the Regulators (New) on Egay for about £30.
Usual symptom that regulator is gone, is noise like machine gun when window is almost up.

Hello mate i've just come acroos your question i had the same issue with the right, if you havn't sorted it yet it is more than likely a crack in the metal plate the sliders are attached to you should be able to see it in the top right corner.
If so then as someone has already mentioned its a few rivets away from fixing.
Ps check the other side while your at it as on mine the other side was well on its way and i changed both.

Had the same problem on my drivers window, got a replacement mechanism of ebay for £42 incl p & p.
Took about an hour to swap it over and it works fine now.
Just like to say thanks for all the advice as I can now drive at more than 50 without having an anoying whistling noise.

don't be so optimistic ... the problem will come again ... it's a weak point in the p38 .
sorry to tell you that ... but i have to , to be honest !
anyway , good luck ...

think you HAVE to be optimistic with a Range Rover!! If your not then goodness knows what will happen to your sanity. Live by the rule of 'well, i'll just fix this one last thing and then it will be all ok' :D

-Wills :)

this is your opinion , and i resoect it .. but can you deny these weak points of range ... look man , i adore range rover ... i hve 3 of kind , but if we don't say what is wrong with it , maybe the newest model will be worse ....
when you own somthing and you like it , i think you have the right to critic its weakness , just to reserve it in its good mood ....

I had the same problem with window not set .And with the help of this site and the guys that wrote it mines fixed .My window would go up to about an inch from the top then start banging like a machine gun .So like the guy said i changed the window regulator and hey presto all fixed. So thanks.

Thanks for that! This has bugging me for few weeks now.

the window-glass is too heavy.. and the motor is too small for it ... so that's what makes this problem happen ever
