Hello, making a thread about my resurrection of a series 3 109 station wagon!! he was a ebay purchase after having a 109 truck cab with only 3 seats and 4 in my family something had to give ,,,, i couldnt afford a nice one so it had to be a nail :) so here he is the day i got him :

He gets his name from the back window sticker "i like it dirty" !!!!!!

The £200 donor

he has been stripped of anything half decent , pretty much all the steel was rotten, did have a seized 6 cylinder engine which i sold to get my money back,

Why did you let go of that gorgeous straight 6, unless your's is a straight six of course LOL

Looking forward to seeing you become poor, oops, sorry, rebuild a super series 3 :)

Randy didnt have a engine or gear box, so have decided to put a 2.25 in, as this is what it would of originally came with. power of facebook and £150 an engine and box

it was totally seized, well managed about 60 degree of movement , i dont have the money to rebuild it etc and it was missing too much to be a viable option.. keeping it cheap haha

trawling hours and hours on ebay does occasionally pay off £55 for this old wooden box which was full of all new bits left over from soon elses series 3 rebuild bargain !! few bits i know im going to use , speedo cable, fuel pump, temp sender, oil pressure switch, thermostat, brake rebuild items, any bits i dont use i will offer on here or swaps etc

I like build threads that resurrect Series Landies!!
I shall be watching your progress with great interest :)

so had a quick look at the engine today, checking the obvious, when i get hold of a half decent battery i will do a compression check to make sure the thing will run ,,,,

that cant be said of the thermostat , luckily there was one in the ebay box :)

a few other bits have me concerned , the dizzy is all loose and although the alternator looks new its been fitted with the fan all loose etc so every thing is going to have a once over and a good service ,,,,,, also realised there is no dip stick :O

so did a little more: stripped the wings off and the seat box and gave the bits a quick go over with the pressure washer

also taken the front donor chassis and front bumper to work so i can blast them "the job has perks" just a quick go over on the chassis as only really using the engine mounts and cross member ,, found some bad welding on the bumper but unsure if i should use the whole thing or just fit the bumperettes to a straight one ??

the bits i need off the donor chassis are in pretty good shape only a few minor thing to sort out when grafting it into the landy ,, the rest of the chassis on randy looks pretty good under the seat box but i will have to sort out the fuel hose and brake line as they have all been zip tied together with the loom , and not a solid pipe for the fuel either ,, so a few p clips will be in order ,hopefully i still have a reel of brake line in the shed , keep it cheap haha

We had a Y reg one at work. I loved it but pulling a 4 wheel trailer loaded up with gear with the 2.25 diesel was no fun even with overdrive and freewheel hubs. Sold it to lady who worked for us in the office as she had a farm. She died a few years ago and the old 109 was last heard of residing in a N Wales scrapyard.

so progress has been slow recently, been spending alot of time helping my friend weld up his classic mini which is pretty rotten so have built him a spit so we can spin it around

saying that i have got the engine mounts and front cross member chopped out the old chassis and cleaned up abit , i will weld in the engine mounts when i drop the engine and box in to ensure they are in the correct position ,,, hopfully this week check the compression on the engine and get that and the box ready to drop in , cheers for watching :)

now awaiting a paddock delivery for some new engine and gear box mounts so i can get them temporary fitted to get the engine mounts welded in the right place :):)

hi peeps so i finally managed to compression test the engine, not good news cylinder 2 and 3 was about 10 psi so thought i better get the head off ::
46486352_272892893253745_4937743069203136512_n.jpg

so will get a straight edge over the head and block and if its ok will be getting re ground valves and refitted ,, if its to good to be true generally is lol
