Evening all,

The Range has been doing something random over the last few weeks and I'm a little baffled.

I drive the same route every day to and from work, I know it like clockwork, drive it fastidiously and achieve approx 29 mpg on average. However, over the last 2 weeks, whilst driving the exact same route in the exact same style my mpg has dropped to 23-24. Can't figure it out - I've reset the computer and even done my maths at the fuel pump and it's definitely dropped.

Any ideas? Also, when going up a hill in cruise control (only a small incline) the cruise control struggles to maintain a speed and will let the speed drop 10mph before accelerating.

Any ideas?!!! Are the two related (can't think why!)

Cheers, CB

Winter Diesel....

Although this has been on sale for a couple of months now!!!

possible one or two of your brakes may be starting to stick after a run feel the wheel centres and see if any of them are a bit warmer than the others, all the gunk and muck on the roads at this time of year ...

Winter diesel makes feck all difference on mine, at least if it does it's not measurable.
I'd look for binding brakes and do a leak off test on the injectors.

We very recently went to Scotingland a 545 mile trip and used 3/4 tank there on Shell fuel, computer said 175 miles left!!!!
So let it go to 10 miles left and filled up in Morrison's in St Andrews exact same trip back and had 74 miles range left, I checked brakes and front right is defo warm, with brake dust twice as bad.

dont know if it will help or not but my old p38 suddenly dropped 4-5 miles per gallon and it was as datatek suggested on here,my leak off pipes had crackedd on an injector at the back of the engine, fixed it by replacing all the leak off pipes, well they were all the same age and id just be chasing one leak after the other

That is odd. It's uphill to Scotland so you'd think it would pull more and use more fuel on the trip there!:D

Had a look under the bonnet and underneath, no apparent cracks in pipes. Very bizarre.

I used to get 600 miles from a tank, since this reduced MPG, I'm now getting 450 for no apparent reason. Cruise control still not holding the speed.

What are the tell tale signs of the turbo going?
