Picked up a pair of sides as my ones are corroded from the inside out.

Only problem being that the driverside rear had been badly damaged. So with the off cuts of aluminium from the cut outs from the windows I set to making a rear panel. I quite enjoyed if as I have limited tools for forming bends etc.

Will need to get some tiger seal and bond it in.

Went to move the landy on Sunday and it just didn't sound right

Whipped off the intake hose and could see the turbo had gone. After much swearing in the pishing rain I got the manifold off and inside. Snapped one stud and two bolts Grrr! Got a new cartridge on order and gaskets. Here's a pic of the old one

that doesnt look clever ? what happenedthere then ? looks like its bearings have gone and allowed it to colapse onto the casing ?

Aye pretty much that. Was always a bit of play in it since I bought it but it spat it's dummy on Sunday lol

Not used them myself but I from what I have heard they are pretty good. They will take a fair dint in them but if they get a hard knock they will crack.

Didnt have much luck with the cartridge. Followed the instructions regarding the priming etc ran it for half an hour and the compressor wheel started scuffing the housing

but only one of the fins.

So I decided to get the whole turbo looked at by the turbo centre uk and rebuild it or replace the core.

Decided to take the head off and fix the annoying oil leak it had, took it to work to clean it up along with the intercooler, piping and manifolds

Clean the sealing face on the block

Must of been bored out at some point?

And finally fitted

Touch wood I've ran it today and everything seams to be okay pheeew!

Right folks, time for an over due update! So its still off the road in bits but since the last time i updated the thread i have completed an introduction into automotive bodywork at college

As a project i took my roof up to repair and spray in the booth.... Anyway i've a heap of photos to load up... the order of them will be all to pot tho.
