I wish I had your skills to take it on - hoping for a 'new' family car soon, so the Defender can be off the road for a while to get the more urgent stuff done, like lack of any lower door frames, water pouring through roof etc etc etc.....

Cheers guys! The wheels are a mf charcoal with some black added.

Rush is on to get it road worthy for november. Its a pain in the ass as i cant fit it in my garage so most work is done outside and with the nights drawing in :(
 
I've been working on my headlining over the last few nights. It was all out of shape, torn and the fabric was hanging off. It was in a fair old state to say the least but i was determined to save it, some fibreglass and mdf later i got the structure sorted.

I bought some of the stretch fabric you see on ebay for lining vans and set to work.



 
those rock sliders are ace, how did you attach them? the usual way ala production ones?

Hi flat, they have the normal tab onto the bulkhead outriggers fixing point (front end). For the rear end i didnt have any tube to fit the rear tub outriggers so instead i made a L-shape bracket that fits onto same mounting point as your rear tub / seat belt bit. Hope that makes sense!
 
frankly they look a piece of **** to make, i might try my hand next spring or something. Been looking at the sills for ages and wondering how i could fit them on securely. that looks jsut the job.

Making the brackets was the easy part, the angled ends to blend with the wheel arches took a bit of fettling
 
Fantastic thread - your Defender looks very tidy and capable without going over the top. A nice subtle design theme.

One question: did you get your rock sliders galvanised? If not it might be worth considering as the paint will get taken off the first time you scrape any rocks and you might get a bit sick of repainting them.

Thanks Landyjd. No i have just painted them at the moment. I'll see how it goes, the thought did cross my mind tho
 
Proper cracking thread mate, lovely to see someones project take shape then the end result. An your rock sliders look the business mate:D, well in enjoy the wee beast!
