Hi all and thanks for any answers in advance :) have just got a R990 radio for my td5 2003 puged it in too the harness switched on and it did what it said landrover on screen then code but then goes onto scan and put stations into itself but when it locks a station it flashes mute and the station name sound comes out of speakers then goes off and on cant find out how too un mute is there a fault in my car wiring or do you think it be the radio or me being stupid

I can't find anything in the ICE handbook about "Mute", but it does make me wonder, has there been a mobile phone setup in this vehicle previously?

Looking at the pin assignments for the R990 head unit, there is an input called "Telephone mute" which is applied to the head unit on pin 1 of the grey ISO plug which carries the power wiring.

That might be a good place to start.

Thanks brian47 thats a good question i dont know but when i pluged the radio in i noticed a wire had been cut and one added in that could be it will check it out cheers :)

just thought..The only good feature on the factory fitted sat nav was when it had to talk it automaticly muted the radio and CD until it had finished speaking then the CD carried on...Could this be part of the problem?

The factory fit sat nav is included in the Harman Kardon ICE system. The R990 radio head is part of the "High Line" system which does not have a sat nav.

That said, it might be that some modification was made to include a mute signal from another source.

I would certainly investigate that "odd" wire further.
