Hi All,

The Disco 2 I bought had had its radio replaced because the original Land Rover one was shot.

The seller raved about how good it is - I agree that it's good for the driver but I'm always having people complain that they can hardly hear me etc.

I have contacted Sony and they say that there's nothing they can do, you can't attach an external microphone to it (so the microphone is closer to you, the current one's behind the face of the radio...on the passenger side, so a long way from your mouth) and it's not their problem.

So what do others use/what radios do you use?

I have the old land rover radio which I would put back if someone could fix it but the seller was advised to replace it because you can't tell how much they cost to fix.

Regards,

Joe

I've used Parrot h/f kits in both of my Discos, the CK3100 I think. They've worked fine with both the D2 Highline unit (made by Alpine) and an aftermarket Alpine unit in my old D1.

A mic that far from the driver is always going to struggle, the Parrot comes with a separate one you fit where you want, in the D2 it's on the A pillar. Cost about £100 brand new.

I have the original land rover radio/sat nav unit fitted but i have the Nokia ck-7w hands free kit installed with the mic on the drivers a pillar, and a small button by the gear stick.
Its a brilliant piece of kit really clear and even when my wife speaks from the passenger side the mic picks up her voice (well thats women for ya)
This is the kit http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_CK-7W_UG_en.pdf

On my Sony there is an option in the munu to boost the mic which makes a BIG difference Have you had a look to see if you have a similar option?
