I have a 1996 Discovery imported from Japan. To convert to an UK spec radio I have to access the amplifier on the vehicle. To save me ripping everything apart can anyone tell me where it is located?

I would assume that it would be under the headlining next to the heated elements.

I dont see why you need to access the ariel amplifier to change a radio.

If your talking about the amplifier for the sound system, mine is under the front passanger seat, (a Harmon Kardon job) which is a green box.

but mine is a TD5

The thread does say radio amplifier, therefore it's located behind the footwell kickpanel I think it was the drivers side.
Sorry I don't know what it looks like as this info is in the fog of time.

As he mentions radio amplifier, the amplifier is for boosting the radio signal, not to be confused with stereos, sub woofers, speakers ect, ect,

The radio signal is picked up and where there is a weak signal the amplifier does what it says on the tin.
On a Classic it is connected to the heated rear screen, or the side winows on later Classics and Discos.

Under the headlining on Classics and Discos. Black box with 3 wires from each side, £60 to buy new.

A disco exported to Japan has a different radio system, it has an additional audio power amplifier located in the footwell.
