So I'm going to replace the rad on my series 3. I want it to slot straight in but want a new aluminium core one. Most are out of stock but I have found one place that does them but it has plastic top and bottom. Is that normal? Worth buying?

Can you post a link of the radiator, not heard of plastic ones before.
I recently bought an OEM Denso one which I expect to last a very long time

This is my rad. I've no idea if it's any good, unfortunately. Bu99er to get out (did it really need ~12 bolts?). Seems ok 🤷‍♂️

I got my rad out today just as the new one arrived. They are exactly the same size. But there was a nozzle brazed/welded onto the old one that isn't on the new one asI have a v8 from an old r.rover as u probably know from reading this thread. I probably need to get one on the new rad.

Don't bother fitting one to the rad. If you have a expansion tank you can tee into the pipe from the cap fitting having just a plain cap to the rad for filling and then the pressure cap is on the expansion tank.
A brass one from early 90/110 would suit.

Brilliant! Thanks. you know I thought of doing that but figured as the expansion pipe from the filler cap is above where the it's high pressure innards does its thing that the additional spigot or whatever its called brazed onto the old radiator must have a different job? It would be a so great if I didn't have to add it!!

A brass what from an early 90/110?

Thanks so much.

The early Land rover Ninety and One ten models from 1983 to 1990 had a small metal expansion pressure tank.
Later Defender tdi models have a larger plastic tank. However any expansion tank that will fit somewhere in the series engine bay will do [Has to be as high as possible in the engine bay.] The Series 3 Expansion bottle is no good as it is not a pressure vessel.
Knowing which bit of the world you are in helps in giving advice.

That's handy as I already have one fitted. Just need to work out the best way to t into it now. Brilliant. Thank you.

I'm in Brentford West London by the way.

E bay for "coolant tee" lots of types/sizes available and some jubilee clips.
With your username I thought you were in Mexico. ;)

Ha ha. No it's a line from only fools and horses. Del boy meant 'No way Jose!'

I found something in the shed that might do it.
