Looks like the radiator has finally given up the ghost.
I was hoping for another winter out of it but it's not to be.
I've just been having a toot for a replacement and it would seem Paddocks Bearmach 2/3 is reasonable at the moment at about £115.
Or it there something I should know?

Had a strange smell off him the last few journeys. Not like the overheating smell I remember.
Anyways there was no watter inim.

i got one last month from paddocks, the shroud from the old rad needed fettling [too wide]

then the rad sat higher that old one ,and the fan was clipping bottom of shroud, tried bending lip in with adjustable but no room ,so i bent the fan blade tips in 2mm

then the bottom hose spigot was at 45%, old one 90%, so had to bodge 2 hoses while i waited for series 3 hose

that nightmare over ,it seems good

can't see a makers name on my s3 rad, the s1 has "Serck" on it, it isn't that old in terms of looks - although I have had the car at least 8 years - I think it was put in when the recon engine was done, a year or so before I bought it iirc

A am going to have fun any way I do it. The wings are 3, the front panel is 1 and everything else is 2.
Tin snips and hammer at the ready.

I did mine a few months ago. Bought from Craddock's . Including hoses, jubilee clips and postage it was £140. So that sounds around the right price. Mine was a Britpart. The mounting holes wouldn't line up, took a lot of fettling to fit it with one bolt left out.

Id be very upset if they sent me a britpart one when the photo on Paddocks clearly says bearmach. I just dont trust that crap any more.

Well it arrived this morning from Paddocks and guess what....................... its a Britpart one :(

Looked OK so out I went in the rain and started pulling out the old one. Now the old one was only held in with by the hoses as I had just fitted a series 1 front panel and knew I was going to have to adapt the new part to fit so was expecting a faff or two.

Got it in, bent pulled and clonked the panel and with only a couple of new bolt holes in the new rad began the filling process.

The pigging thing is leaking on the weld that secures the bottom hose stub.

Im cold, wet through to my knickers, completely brassed off, up to my armpits in sh1te, did I mention brassed off.....................:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I will be calling Paddocks in the morning..............................:(:confused:o_O

That's a right pain. Will they replace if you've drilled holes?
Dont know yet. they have been engaged all morning. Cant see them wanting to try and re sell it. They usually only want them back so they can get a credit note from the supplier.

If they don't take it back you could get the joint braised/ welded, at least you'd get the use of it.

Well I managed to get hold of them and spoke to Ben. Nice chap who very quickly brushed over the fact that the photo on their web site is indeed a Bearmarch rad and they are selling Britpart. Mumbled something about stock photos and current suppliers.
Perhaps Lidl should start advertising M&S readymeals instead of their own

Any road up he gave me his email address and asked for a picture of the fault as he may be able to get another on its way so I sent him a video of it leaking. Then nothing. I couldnt get through again so thats another day wasted. Im back in work tomorrow so its eight days before Im off again. Infuriating to say the least.

Looks like Im catching the bus to work tomorrow.
