Hi all,

I'm new to LandyZone, have used it for all manner of problems, its great!!

I recently fitted an new ****part rad to my defender 200tdi, it seems to be leaking oil from the pipe coupling on the rad, tightened it up once but dont wanna do it too tight incase i bugger it!! its only plastic!!

Not sure whether i should just tighten it up more, or that i have tightened it up too much!! PTFE came to mind???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are you sure cooler union matches pipe there are two sealing methods taper and step with oring

Um not sure, there werent any o rings when i took it off!

if its step with o ring ,o ring often stays in old union

i will have to look, but if it is, i take it i should replace the o rings!

just had a look, and its taper!

i'm not sure whether it is leaking from where the new union screws into the rad. do i have to do this up very tight, i dont want to strip the plastic.

can i use ptfe tape or thread sealer?

Also check its the right thread as i believe the rads come with the later 300 unions and you may need the unions out of your old rad.
