Diag tool was reporting a misfire on cyl 2 so figured I'd do a quick service. The air filter was pretty quick, but then got around to the spark plugs.
Scratched my head for a while as to why the two banks of spark plugs didn't look the same and then    moment... realise the second row of plugs is actually hiding somewhere on the other side of the engine.
Anyway, disconnected everything in sight and got the inlet manifold off. Took the VIS motors out again and have now convinced myself that the manifold is shagged... that actuator arm is flapping about like a mofo. So currently hunting about for a "new" one on the bay of flea. (Experimented with trying to get the rear flap thing off to see if the arm was serviceable... the flap is held in place by 10 isn screws but then doesn't move when they're out. So either it doesn't come off or I'm not hitting it hard enough.)
Have noticed that the mini plugs that attach to the top of the spark plugs... most of the black plastic bits are really perished and now don't click in to place. This explains the mangle of cable ties in place for a couple already in the car... looks like I'll be doing more of the same when they go back in
