Diag tool was reporting a misfire on cyl 2 so figured I'd do a quick service. The air filter was pretty quick, but then got around to the spark plugs.

Scratched my head for a while as to why the two banks of spark plugs didn't look the same and then    moment... realise the second row of plugs is actually hiding somewhere on the other side of the engine.

Anyway, disconnected everything in sight and got the inlet manifold off. Took the VIS motors out again and have now convinced myself that the manifold is shagged... that actuator arm is flapping about like a mofo. So currently hunting about for a "new" one on the bay of flea. (Experimented with trying to get the rear flap thing off to see if the arm was serviceable... the flap is held in place by 10 isn screws but then doesn't move when they're out. So either it doesn't come off or I'm not hitting it hard enough.)

Have noticed that the mini plugs that attach to the top of the spark plugs... most of the black plastic bits are really perished and now don't click in to place. This explains the mangle of cable ties in place for a couple already in the car... looks like I'll be doing more of the same when they go back in :(

The plenum chamber is screwed and glued, it doesnt come apart very easily.
I replaced mine with a Rover 75 unit after getting the software updated.
Then chiselled, hammered, broke mine open and pined the valves shut with wire. If it goes again this one will go back in.

Thanks. Planning to do the same. Is the chamber the same from a 2.0 v6 75?

I can't for the life of me get one of the spark plugs out. 5 out of 6 were fine. A couple were a bit squeaky but went easy and no worries.

But one of them is being a right sod. To such an extent that I questioned if there was even a plug in there... There is. It's the one in the middle on the front row (number 3 I think)

But I just can't seem to get the tool on it. Have tried usual other tricks like hose pipe and so on.

Any other thoughts? Is it possible the plug chamber has warped and so the spark plug tool physically can't get down there?
