hi all,
Just been reading the steps posted here
Brake Job Range Rover 4.0/4.6
on changing disks in preparation for doing this on my P38.
The only thing that concerns me is removing the disk securing screw as I could see this being a real pain in the neck. So my question is for those of you who have done this is it as painful as it sounds ?

BTW first towing experiences at the weekend and it all went smoothly and the rangie was just perfect for the job.:)

Cheers
Tony

You're right it can be a pain, as it can be on any car.

1. Soak in penetrating oil/WD40.
2. Tap on disc over screw with a lump hammer.
3. Cross fingers and have a go with a large as possible screwdriver.
4. Otherwise with a centre punch and hammer attempt to loosen screw by hitting tangentially anti-clockwise.
5. If not successful apply some gentle heat to free things up.

try also hitting the screwdriver as you twist it, use a hammer not yr hand or head!

get a screwdriver that fits properly.

Impact driver (hammer)

There cheap to buy, and very useful to have around, and if done right you can use the screw again, instead of it being mullerd, and trying to get another one on a Sunday, get me drift???
