Rather than lose this in a 2 year old thread...The tank looks lovely, new cradle/chip gaurd all nicely sprayed black (not Britpart) new seals and ready to fit..... I have waxoyle left over.

Should I waxoyle it? Or just the seams..... what bits would you do?

Hi There

If you have the Waxoyl sitting around then comprehensive coverage is the order of the day. If not then focus on the seams and "top" ie where water can sit unseen.

Cheers

Nick

If you have enough then coat the whole thing. If you only have a bit left over then just do the the bit that sits inside the cradle. It's the bit in the cradle that usually rusts through.

tbh i would say that it will still rust away under waxoyl.the best thing is 50/50 sump oil and diesel......paint it on and iy will knock all the rust dead straight away.

I have 20ltrs of used diesel multigrade from various oil changes on my diesel merc and will be changing the oil Saturday on my recently aquired 110. I like the sound of your "anti rust" remedy and I believe it would be great. I always soak old locks and items that "rust up" in diesel, it always releases them and gets rid of the rust so I might give it a try myself.

Do you use this treatment your self?

Many thanks for the advice... will pay particular attention to the vulnerable spots :)
