Hello,

just had some welding done on a td5 discovery 2, I was charged £180 labour (3 hours) for the following:

welding to footwell, welding to rear of chassis.

here some photos of the job, I asked them NOT to wax oil the area that they worked on so I could see the job. they have also not put the trim back correctly.

What do you think of the job? have they taken a **** a little with the quality of this job?

the problem is you can't weld properly to rotten metal but they've left a lot of it in there then tried to weld to it

how do i go about making a complaint? It passed the MOT like that, and they don't test in house, but even so, I am very disappointed with it.

Simply take it back and show them, have they just welded a plate over the top in the first picture cos it doesn't seem to have been welded all the way around

That's truly horrible

As Johnlad said a complete lack of prep but even considering that they've made no attempt to do a half tidy job.

For £60/hr you'd expect a top notch job but my dog can weld better than that.

Do they have a Facebook or Twitter page? If needs be publicly posting on there seems to get a public apology and promise of sorting it out.
Any business worth running wouldn't want to publicly shamed due to the fear of losing even loyal customers.

It's worked most of the time for me.

Seems only fair to talk to them first and giving them the opportunity to put it right before launching into a negative publicity campaign.

Beasty I would normally agree with that statement, however the standard of welding is completely unacceptable.
I would not like the same people to ever touch my pride and joy again, if someone was happy to allow that standard of work to leave a workshop.
Shower of cowboys

I agree that it's totally unacceptable but I still think everyone should be allowed to explain/rectify issues before being slaughtered on the alter of social media.

If the OP is still unhappy after talking to them, regardless of whether it's resolved or not then fair enough.

There's also the possibility that they will go on the offensive rather than it pushing them to sort it out.

Just my opinion
