Using the correct thickness of wire and possibly an in line fuse, not much chance of fire.
BUT there could be a first time at some stage of my d.I.y.
Lol.

big fuse!
its already fused in the sattelite fuse box for each circuit.
loose the new fuse and you'll loose everything electrical.
edit.
depending on where you put it you could also overload the alternator if it blows.

that's true!

my ammeter's in right, but my brain was wired wrong :doh:

I didn't bother with a fuse on mine, never had one in the original wire.
