will teach me not to read it properly , lol

have seen a few fit the 19.5 oil pump cover on the D4s , think they’ve just done that ref crank issue

alas no reports back yet if it’s helped or not , too early to tell but would be great if that resolves the issue
I collected my timing belt, tensioner & x2 deflector/guide bearings from Ripon Landrover today. I will replace the rear belt at a later date (I’ve heard that’s a chewy to get to)
I also bought a new tow ball lock as the key had gone missing I it would be a good idea to strip the ball mechanism as the locking pins had all jammed. What a prat on. The little ball pinged out Spend an hour Finding it, and it pinged out AGAIN FFS!! Anyway I’ve now got a well lubricated & functioning ball

hiya

ooops, should have read u had the SDV6 , have seen some replace the oil pump at the same time , not always but for the belt and braces so to speak , also the rear fuel belt, on the D4 that’s timed

As a side note there’s 2 x options of oil pumps

https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/l...pump-27-30tdv6-c2z31680-lr123716-922725-p.asp

on the D3 replacing the oil pump is a must , but a few have also replaced it on the D4

Hope that helps

ps, what year is ur D4 please ,
It’s a November 2011 HSE.

For any kind of belts use Continental or Gates... IMO Dayco is sh*t

Hunted far and wide for Continental serpentine belt (ACE and AC) with no success and ended up buying a Gates after a bit of research. Must say, the original (since 2003) Continental was perfect after 240,000km when I removed it - have kept it as a spare!

what is dot4 sl6? I've never heard of this. is it the same as dot4+? This is the same as dot4 but less viscous and can be mixed

Tbh I dont know as its new to me (though I believe sl6 has been out for many years) dot4+ may be the same as dot4sl6, but I dont want to say it is just in case it isnt!
I literally was only reading about it a few weeks back, and thought Oooh I did not know that, so I have bought some, not much dearer than std Dot4.
I did not think it appeared much thinner as I poured it in, but thats not very scientific I know!

All the info u need :)

Help!
I’ve discovered different torque settings for the idler pulleys in the 3.0d D4.

Some state 26nm whilst others state 45nm!
This is a massive difference!

The retaining plate On the tensioner seems consistent at 26nm As do the Cam sprocket bolts 23nm.

Does anyone have reliable & accurate Settings for these? And for the auxiliary pulleys? I’ve tried for about 2 hours but keep finding conflicting guidance

Having bought a ‘proper’ timing belt kit from Landrover, I was very bemused to find that when I opened the box there was a DAYCO belt in there!! Considering I could have bought a Dayco belt for half the price, I feel decidedly ripped off here!!! Anyway, it’s done now. I changed the water pump with a Dolz pump, and replaced the & idler pulleys with genuine LR parts. I ordered an auxiliary belt from Advanced Factors but discovered the new one was about a foot longer than the old one! So the old one went back on.
The worse part of the cambelt change was the engine guard plate. Why put 8mm dia bolts in with a 13mm head? 2 of my 13mm sockets snapped trying to shift these rusted bolts! 38 years I’ve had these sockets! Grieving! Never split a socket yet...
