I have never been a believer in quack remedies, however I've been driving for some months with a dodgy ZF auto, the revs were flaring on 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd changes, I've just been driving round the problem. With no time or equipment to swap to the box myself or the cash to pay a dealer and a trip to the UK in the offing I bought a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix from the USA. It's bloody well fixed the problem, at least for the moment. Can't believe my luck, it's done 2k trouble free miles since the magic potion was put in:D. Have to see how long it lasts before I'm trucked home or have the time to swap the box:eek:

Probibly freed off a couple of shuttle valves in valve block, which i think i said maybe the problem a long time ago.:):):)

Sorry to seem dense...good you describe the symptom of 'Flaring between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd....' for me please....sorry!!!!!

So you did Tony, but knowing sweet FA about autoboxes I didn't want to try dropping the valve block in situe. I have a suitable transmission jack now so I will get round to swapping it for my spare if it starts to play up again:D:D:D

Well Keith what can i say. I have a couple of little niggles now and then on the box. Was thinking of dropping valve block and cleaning it. But that is a ball ache, so enthused by your successful bodge have ordered some for mine. Will let you know how it performs. :D:D:D

Think he means the revs were rising between changes because the clutch grip was lagging.

You would think ATF would have enough detergent to unstick valve-blocks and nothing else could do any better as ATF used as engine oil is a common trick to decrud old hydraulic lifters that are no longer pumping up or unstick sticking valves - and it works.

I've seen some Lucas products do miracles with my own eyes, two cars that drank oil like it was going out of fashion - regardless of the viscosity you ran, one bottle of oil conditioner later and oil consumption problems gone - I wouldn't have believed it, but I've seen it. Similarly identical products from Wynns and STP having no effect.

Ah I see....many thanks....

I ask as when I accelerate the revs rise with small changes in road speed until about 2200 revs then the acceleration picks up a pace....

I just assume this is because the torque/power curve doesn't really kick in 'till about 2200-2500rpm....

Mine would hit the rev limit on gear changes when accelerating. What you are seeing is normal torque converter slip before the lock clutch up operates.

Bonne chance:D

so minimal acceleration until the revs get to around 2200, when it then starts to pull away is normal....

My previous P38's and Classics were all V8's which accelerated as soon as you put your foot on the pedal, this is my first Diesel, and was concerned the box may be slipping slightly...

OMG! ...I never thought i'd see the day when Dalatek and Wammers masked a problem instead of finding the route cause! :hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi

I thought you'd have that box stripped down before breakfast. Nice to see you are both human after all.........I can recommend Radweld Plus :p

Not masking a problem i know the what the problem is, valve block is sticking. If this stuff frees it off, it saves me having to do it with my own little pinkies. Being a lazy git i suppose.

And thus the repeutation remains, and low it was written unto this eighth day of December in the year of 2011....:D
