I bought a 2.5N/A 'B' reg landrover 90 with V5, dismantled it & found chassis to be rotten through and diffs are gone. Also bought a 200tdi engine from a 'H' reg discovery which i have V5 for.

Have just landed a bargain with a 300tdi 96 reg rolling chassis but with no I.D. Im gonna fit the engine tomorow but am wondering, when i come to put this beast on the road, will it have to go on a 'Q' plate or will it be allowed on my trusty 'B' reg????
Can anyone help?

i reckon Q plate, there is barely nothing of original vehicle. can you prove where the 300tdi came from or has the engine number also misteriously disappeared.

Dont think there's much fishy about it, there's loads of chassis out there without I.D.
Have got a proper reciept off the person i bought chassis off. Everything above board, all the bulkhead & panels are original, gearbox, all the chass & axels are replacement part in theory. As far as i can see it just like doin a normal 200tdi conversion is'nt it???

Jobs worth here i see!!!

No everything must be done properly, thus the reason why ive got a chassis with a No. stamped on, and a valid reciept from a reputble scrappie.
Anyone with some proper advice?

As I under stand it Q plates are reserved for kit cars and vehicles with no identifiable age. If you have the chassis number for the 300tdi then that is likely to get an age related number assigned to it. so you'll almost certainly end up with a 96 reg no.

But only DVLA can say for certain what they'll do.

On a practical level. You'll have to move the engine mount in order to get the 200tdi engine to fit in a 300tdi chassis.

engine mount reweld is a chassis mod therefore no year plate can be supplied.must go for re-test.
