And listen up.

A friend!!! has got a 1.8 gaylander and the immobiliser is fooked (tis ok to swear in ere int it??) so she's foned me up and asked If I know how bypass it.

Now I'll be honest I reckon the best way to sort it out is petrol & a match, But I doubt that's what she wants to hear  So if anyone knows how to bypass the fooker so she can drive it to garage to get it MOT'd and the immobiliser sorted out properly, FFS PM me and let us know will ya

Please! Pretty please!! wiv a cherry on it

If the dash lights come on when she tries to start it but then nothing from the starter motor - tell her to wiggle / push in the thin wire at the back of the starter motor n try it again...this connector is crap n often mistaken for duff immobiliser when it plays up.

Do they know it's an immobiliser fault or a logical guess? If it won't turn over it could be the switch on the rear of the ignition. Take oft steering column plastic, remove switch and clean contacts with fine sand paper then put back.

Symptoms would be good cos most people assume its the immobiliser and it often isn't! If its not cranking make sure the energiser wire is on the starter properly cos they fall off:D now eff off back to yer bender section;)

You take the **** and then ask for advise ! :multiply:

If you'd been around a bit longer you'd realise that Redhand does in fact give a fair bit of advice in this section.

The fact that the senior members are actually trying help might give you a bit of a clue.

Fair point, post deleted. Still a little wet behind the ears, just fed up with other Landrover owners take the pee out of Freelanders.

What's this!!!!!!!!!???????????,Tin shed owners asking for help again!!!!??:rolleyes::D:D
Nah. He's bought a Freelander and dun't want to admit it. They're slowly changing their ways. Some years ago they would dis-own anyone in the family who owned a Freelander. Then they started coming on ere admitting family members owned Freelanders and they need help fixing it. Now they come on ere telling us they're fixing it for a friend/relative/work mate etc to ease the pain of just admitting it's theirs.

I would go back to owning a ford Mondeo before I even thought of getting into a freelander let alone owning one. closest, I've come to a gaylander. Was towing one off shepton Mallet roundabout when his HG went. (Well he had jut bought a K series off Ebay and Managed a Whole 80miles, before it blew up) :D So I did the decent thing and towed him to nearest layby. So he could wait for AA to turn up. I offered to syphon some petrol out of the tank so he could do the decent thing. But he declined  :D

Back to topic Have ent her a message on FB asking for more details and to try the starter motor wire.

or you can look at the ignition switch they sometimes have the points on them corroding a bit and just need a bit of TLC with light sandpaper
