Apologies for a repost, but trying to get some feedback on this vehicle:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classi...=Used&seller-type=private&page=1&modal=photos)

prior to purchase. I have some advice from some landies on another forum ( a competitor tut tut), but wanted to get as much scope as possible as I have just booked an AA inspection in and will potentially be purchasing. Full thread found here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic73539.html.

Any advice greatly appreciated- particularly around the counter-offer.

Thanks :)
T

Buying my first landy :?
D90 Any help, tips or common problems and misconceptions about D90 to be aware of when viewing a vehicle. I’m real green to defender 90 world but have been mulling over getting one for a long time and am finally going to a viewing with a private seller tomorrow. (see below).

I’m also unsure about the MOT report (attached) for the car, some failures and subsequent passes suggesting the repairs must have been made, but still some question marks particularly about the advisories.

I’d really appreciate any help and pointers you could give to a newbie to avoid making any mistakes.

Any advice gratefully received,

Tom

Looks nice but at that money- it should be.

If you've not owned a defender before, you're wise to get an inspection done. Alternatively, take someone along who has some knowledge of them.

Couldn't view the thread at the 'other' place...

Looks like a converted hardtop (van). You might want to speak to your insurance company about the rear seats, they might not be legal for carrying passengers on the road.

It isn’t a bad looking one at all. The hardest part is knowing what your looking for so I’d suggest finding a LR specialist in your area to take to look at it.

Looks nice, but a bit expensive to me. At that price l would expect a genuine SW. But depends on the condition, not possible to see from the photos.

They are expensive.

I wish they were cheaper, but that’s the market unfortunately. The same market that pays £50,000 for a Ford Sierra with a fancy engine in it.

They're only expensive cos you fools are happy to pay the money for them

Far too expensive for a van, keep looking and find one with a galvanised chassis, you will benefit in the end if you do. Do not be in a hurry, I would not buy that one, generally stay away from dealers they have your eyes out, they sell tidied up vehicles with a few shiny bits at vastly inflated prices, go private and look for a well looked after example.

I’ve PM’d him with a better one that one of my customers is selling for similar money, plus it’s a genuine Station Wagon, O/P please check your inbox

The money being 'asked' is a tad ott at the moment imo.

Many trucks start at a high price but I've watched many reduce their prices by over £5k when originally advertised at the price this one is asking.

Just in time for winter, you lucky boy!

Dark colours = sweaty bollacks in the summer, that of course will not matter as you will have sold it on by then:D
