Yesterday, I finally managed to purchase an original 2-door Range Rover.
The car is a lovely 3 owner car, that was originally registered in October 1972. My intentions are to fully restore the Sahara Dust vehicle to it's former glory! :D

I'm jealous mate, would love one of those. I have a 1972 Rover 3500S with the same engine, although more powerful. Why did they reduce power on the Rangy version?

Lovely, shame about the colour. Although both pics look different.

I was considering to change the colour, although I am afraid of ruining the originality of the car...

So the big question is... Do I colour change?

Bear in mind that I am doing a complete bare metal respray.

Shall I...

1. Keep the original Sahara Dust?
2. Change to Bahama Gold?
3. Change to Lincoln Green?
4. Change to Tuscan Blue?

I think the rivet counters will want you to keep it the original colour.

But i say "its your car" as long as its an original colour i think it will look good.

nice purchase.

Bahama Gold is my decision! Reminds me of my childhood!

Can anyone help me with any bits/parts?

I need a new tailgate, bumpers, lights, etc...

Please help me if possible.

Many thanks.

we can help probably

I will send you an invite to our 3 door owners group on here :)

Red.

Everyone knows red cars are faster.

Also ... when you look at that 1972 Range Rover its design hasnt changed much over the years has it?

Utterly iconic.

Nice to see a 2 door restored rather than chopped! I am finishing a 75 2 door with a DTi motor and changing colour from baby sick sahara to tuscan blue, can't get too hung up on orignality or you'll never use it and cry the first time it gets any damage.:D

I am not sure the plastic rubbing strake all round the body is correct for 72

No it is not and definitely coming off!

Crikey, I have just bought a pair of bonnet mirrors off eBay. This restoration project looks like it may be an expensive one!

Going to keep the car as original as possible, although I may replace the PVC seats with full leather in a similar colour.

Although I have chosen Bahama, I still think Tuscan looks fantastic. After all Tuscan was the original "launch" colour.
