Hi can anyone tell me what the pump is under the drivers rear wheel arch and what it does on a 00 plate freelander td4 thanks

the pump is under the drivers rear wheel arch

be an electric powered low pressure fuel pump ..
feeds the mechanical high pressure fuel injection pump on the engine

Not a clever idea calling a LandRover a 'jeep' on a LandRover forum. :(

Now why exactly would you want to switch the pump off??

sorry for that mistake. The pump has fallen off due to been really rusty and my local lr dealer can get one for a week but i could really do with my freelander for getting to work

I think that was Jeep as in Hoover!! :)

I don't have enough knowledge to know if its same one as on my 2005 facelift td4 so check it, but when mine died last week my local indie got one in under an hour from guy salmon in Wakefield, according to them they see that many fail they always keep half a dozen in stock. I know they post stuff as they have a ebay shop that they sell through. May be quicker than waiting for your stealer?

If the pump is now off the vehicle all you need to do is stop up the pipes so that road crud doesn't get in and diesel doesn't get out.

If the pump is still connected you can disable the fbh by taking out fuse #5 in the engine bay fusebox.

Either way I would still say the car is driveable.

the fuse under the bonnet for the fuel pump keeps blowing when i turn on the ignition any1 no what could be causing this

can any1 tell me why the fuse under the bonnet keeps blowing and the fuse in the drivers storage box isnt for the fuel system on a freelander td4
