Well, got a bit bored last night and on the way home in the daily i got stuck behind queues of traffic because of floods! Obviously i had to get the landy out and go investigate last night.... i started with a lane by me that's usually just a solid track with a few puddles....the river had burst its banks and this was totally covered (quite scary) got down there with little trouble just went careful as i couldn't see where the ditches started (note to self i need a roof bar and spots!). I then got to the local ford in churchover which was 4 ft deep.....at this point i turned around... the water flows extremely fast through there as its a narrow point and iv seen many cars swept down the river.

my mate then rang me to say the road out his village is flooded but i would be able to drive it...this was awesome ha (for me anyway) it came into the doors of the landy..(disco 2" lift) and was just touching the headlights, it was like this for about a mile. moved onto a track near me (hillmorton track. A5 track, BT track) which is usually a nice one to do....after the first nose dive into a dip and seeing (or not) the lights go totally under i bottled it and turned back as this was one of the smaller dips! all in all it was a great night playing in the floods but i definitely need to sort my snorkel! ha

ill get pics up later as my mate was out with his camera.....Church lawford ford was at 7ft!.. way over the markers

The by run would have been prety deep. Iv had bits of that over the bonnet

Little lawford ford....... Trust me it won't have been 4 ft
If its past the marker (don't go one these as they are completely wrong) and upto the fence post. As I imagine it would have been and abit more then the fence post is 12ft

Where was the mile long bit?? The road was closed between lawford and church lawford where it goes under the bridge, I was told by the farmer that was about 4ft so I left that alone in the rangie lol

If the missis wasn't in hospital I would have been out in the disco having a play!

What 4x4 is it? Looks like a japanese to me, Suzuki maybe?

trouble is, people without 'real' knowledge just believe that having a 4x4 turns them into 'driving gods' to coin a phrase ..When reality strikes it's usually not nice!

Quote from Sky news:

Rescue services in the West Midlands have appealed for drivers of 4x4s to stop taking unnecessary risks. They say a remarkable number of their call-outs have been to people in four-wheel drive vehicles.

Nathan Hudson, of West Midland Ambulance Service, said: "Perhaps surprisingly, we have had to deal with a remarkable number of stuck 4x4s. Just because your vehicle has four wheel drive, does not make it amphibious. They too can become stuck in deep floodwater.

"We would urge people to not try and get across flood water and instead take a short detour, rather than become trapped in their cars and have to be rescued."

The warning follows a report from Warwickshire Police that three people who had decided to go off-road driving in the bad weather had become stranded and were stuck on the roof of their vehicle shouting abuse at rescue teams.

That really doesn't help, does it ?

Shocking really! I like playing in water, but thers nothing more unpredictable than flood water!

I was sayin to the missis that lots of idiots think just because they have a 4x4 they think they can get through anything.
