I've read that it's possible to fit a PTO to the transfer box on a defender. What sort of kit could it drive? Has anyone ever seen one running a wood chipper?

I understand the chassis would need to be modified as unlike the old series there is no hole in the rear crossmember. It would be pretty handy though if the job was possible!

yeah, iv considered a front and back pto on a early c reg 90, am hoping the same on my series 2, but that has a good start , hole and 6 stud on the gear box :)

a wood chipper would be good, anythin with a hyraulic pump. log splitter etc, same as the unimogs do ,

90, that's the sort of plan I have. If I could run a splitter too that would work great. My only issue would be how to mount and dismount such a heavy piece of kit to the truck.

The rest of you, thanks for your help. I'll Google it :5bbanghead:

why would yer wan to lift a splitter on the back ?? im thinkin of leavin it down me yard then reversing up to it and stickin the pto in,

yer better off buildin one on a small trailer, ;)

I'd want to mount it on the truck because I'd use it on site. I never really thought of putting one on a trailer! I was thinking the same with the chipper. Ideally it would be fixed to the truck so I could drive around with it.

Having thought about it more if I was to mount a 400kg chipper on the back it would drive like s*** and would only hold 600kg of chip, so it was a silly idea! A trailer mount would be ideal!

would of been nice on the old series 2 , :)

some people will just keep bidding , obviously have more pocket money than me ;)

Ebay is great of you're not too keen. I've bid on stuff for over a year before I've got what I want. Then I've been the only bidder. I got a brand new Husqvarna pole saw for £100 a while ago, RRP £600 odd! I bid on one a week for months!

yeah , some yer win some yer loose , il keep goin till i get one :) thers not that many about tho thas the problem
