I've just got hold of a PSI Powerchip, and despite the 'easy to fit' promise the instructions provided don't show any resemblance to my 2.5 DHSE (2000 BMW unit) - specifically the location of the PSI loom.

Has anyone fitted one of these before and can they give any advice.

Are you sure you have the correct Power Box, PSI lists 2 power boxes, up to 1999 and from 2000, depending on when the vehicle was built/registered it could require the earlier power box.

The Range Rover had a model update as apposed to a model change in 1999, I don't know the date or the changes involved, but I'II bet the engine wiring looms had something altered...possibly...

i think it should fit in the passenger side engine loom,under the inlet manifold,the box fits in-between so to speak. has it got the 2 round plugs the same as the engine loom male/female?

The PSI box you want is PB20008, the earlier pre '99 one was PB200011
 
Some progress. Found the FIP - its pretty much in the middle of the engine. Just need to find the electrical connection now!
 
Don't suppose anyone has a picture of where the electrical connection goes. Thought I had found it but its only 2 pin where as the wiring on the PSI Powerbox is for a 3 pin. Close but still no cigar. Thanks in advance
 
if it is supposed to go between the pump and the loom then the plug is just under the inlet manifold but i am almost sure that is 7 pin it is on the plastic cover bolted to the side of the engine ,didnt it come with instructions if not email manu for the fitting instructions
 
Must say, fitting instructions for "chips" are universally crap, when I bought a Van Aaken for my 1999 P38 2.5DSE I was sent fitting instructions for a BMW engine in a BMW 3 series, when I phoned up the company they said they hadn't had a P38 in to photo and assumed the engine looked the same!
 
That's exactly the problem I have - the instructions are for a 3 series and of course it looks nothing like my P38
