Hi I would suggest Total quartz 7000 10w40! It has many anti wear additives and cleaning properties which your td5 will love! But you would need to change more often, C3 oils are mainly for Cars fitted with a DPF and therefore have reduced zinc and ash content which the td5 isn’t very fond of... For more info on the oil type in total 10w40 on YouTube and see the results on the test, the chap does the same test with the Castrol oil in question and it is ****e in comparisonThanks, Discodevon. It is C3, one of the many abbreviations in the spec. Could You explain this a little and can You suggest a more suitable oil brand?
Hi That Castrol c3 stuff is sludge central, not brilliant at keeping an old engine clean, especially an old td5... Try the total stuff on the next oil change ,you and you’re engine will thank me, but unfortunately not you’re wallet it’s not the cheapest, don’t let the total 10w scare you with the cold temps it’s extremely slippery stuff even at that temp!DefenderPilot, thank You for the tips, will do all that!
Discodevon, thank You for that info. I would love to use something that the engine loves Is that 10w part a problem in the winters? We have a couple of weeks of -25*C each year. Is that something that this oil could handle? I would gladly start using something new, because the oil is always dirty, even though the engine seems ok (injectors on nanocom, general smoothness and power) and the EGR has been deleted some 15k km ago..
