After buggering about in Albania this year (see Expeditions) I'd like to fit bash plates to the old girl.
It seems the choice is between aluminum and steel. I guess steel is tougher but aluminum lighter.
Your advice please ...
 
It could depend on your driving style. For a "whoops just in case", aluminum is quite possibly sufficient, for foot planted approaches to every potential obstacle, steel may be the better bet. For areas that may just be dragged rather than take an impact, thick aluminium should be sufficient.
 
Disco is already a big lump, not made for speed, mpg or agility! I'd go with steel.
 
However if low weight and high strength all your only criteria and money isn't a bother, try to get the underbody protection built with titanium! :D
