I've gone back to a seller for less.
However if you really want to get it sorted, you'll need to find a decent prop and VCU. Or better still have the VCU reconditioned.
Only then will you get an idea of the condition of the IRD. You can drain the IRD oil and look for metal particles.
I have seen a prop complete on a 2003 5 door. Will a 2003 prop fit my 2006?

Sorry... I was referring to "i would be back on his doorstep with a mate or 6!" - with the "me too!" comment.

I know but at the same time last year there was a huge problem in County Leitrim with 4x4 been targeted to have cats and exhaust etc stolen so I just don't know if that could have happened to.

As long as the engine is the same as yours, yes it should fit fine. You will need to check the VCU for stiffening. Or just get it rebuilt and some new bearings.
I've never heard of someone stealing a propshaft or VCU but I guess anything is possible. I'd still be going back to the seller though.

if it has to be there for the NCT and yet it passed without one isn't that good reason to make a complaint about the testing station to the relevant authorities?

I was going to do that but been busy bringing it in to a garage and not very happy with the garage I brought it to so looking at another guy who seems to know Land Rover so going to bring it on Monday. Want the things with the engine sorted out soon as and then I'm going to look at the propshafts, ird, rear diff etc
