i have upgraded to wide angle props on a defender 90. the haynes says "refit with sliding joint forwards" not clear on which part the sliding joint is. i have checked hundreds of previous comments but none seem clear.

so you have the spline ends on the front attached to the axle and the spline end of the rear prop to handbrake drum..

Anyone know why they have to be a certain way round and does it do any harm if they're back to front, so to speak?

Just curious. :)

I have allways fitted with the sliding joint at the gearbox, puts them further away from the crap.

mines that way too, was like that when i bought it, so always put em back on that way round. using the same logic as you tbh.

cant see what difference it makes tbh.

Aslong as the front is phased correctly then it'll be fine I've always fitted my sliding joint at the gearbox end

i mark a point on mine with a centre punch then mark there it came of the it will go on the exact same place :) if your putting on you old props again that is
