Evening,

Been hearing a tapping noise not unlike that of a stone trapped in a tyre,

Had a look over all tyres not finding anything,

Got under the D1 to find the front propshaft gaiter has let go and is hitting the gearbox causing the tapping,

Havent been off road in a while and with this plus a few electrical issues I wont be a for a while,

How vital is the gaiter and how had is it to replace ?

you can run it without but worth replacing some time

Front prop held on with 8 bolts . Once off prop splits in two ( with a tugg or two ) put new gaiter on ( quite simple ) replace prop shaft . Don't forget to mark it at each end so you refit it in exactly the same way .
