Mine's got a clip on it!

On the front propshaft transfer box output flange?...manual says to remove front propshaft undo nuts and bolts from transfer box output flange and remove allowing shaft to be removed by dropping down if theres a circlip holding bolts in place that wont work...just done an S2 last month no circlip on front transfer flange but yes on rear flange...

Well, I just squeeze up the splines on the propshaft a bit and it comes off, if I want to take the propshaft off. It's been like that since I had it - I didn't think it was anything unusual. It's a 2006 model, if that's got anything to do with it.

Remove nut 4
Remove steel washer 3
Remove felt washer 2
Pull flange off.
Replace bolt.
Refit.
Item 6 is a mudshield & is an interference fit on the flange. Been a while since I've had my front flange off (& I replaced it anyway as it was very worn & not sealing properly) so I can't remember if the mudshield gets in the way of removing the bolt.
