so I noticed my Uj had started to have some play in it so I booked it in to just get the Uj replaced tommorow unfortunately before I had time to take it off and save it the Uj has shears off taking with it part of the propshaft so I tho I'd be able to unbolt it and get me home at least if I lock the diffs only problem was after taking it off I couldn't lock the diffs the knob turns so I don't no where hi is or low or Nutreal after sort of guessing I got it into one of them and drove off about 800 yards it would just disengage and take about 5 mins of trying to get it to reengage if you change gear it dos engages if you let off it disengages so it took about a hour to get it home any reason why this would do this for also if anyone happens to have a 200tdi propshaft from the northeast area that would be great aswell thanks

to engage diff lock just push lever fully to the left, it doesnt matter were it is forward or back or anywhere in between, lever fully back will be high ,fully forward low anywhere in between neutral, if linkage and pivots etc are worn or badly adjusted it may be hard to fully engage and use of clutch pedal top align the gears helps

Yeah I sort of figured that bit out that hi is back and lo is forward but why would it jump out or continue to disengage thanks

either its not fully going in ie slack or poorly adjuste linkage which is most likely or theres a problem in the t/box

remove tunnel, and check for play ie worn plastic bushes on pivot pins, rod is adjustable near the t/box end by moving 2 13mm spanner size nuts , or the operating cam is splined to the lever shaft you can move it round a spline or 2 , it help to jack one rear wheel up and have hand brake off so you can move hand brake drum to align the gears ,ensure it goes in booth hi and low fully its easy to adjust so you only have one and not both fully
