Guys,
So finally took delivery of the new prop shaft + fitting tool ( plus a new front bumper & door mirrors ).
Firstly I have to say the fitting tool is a pain in the arse when it comes to the front end of the prop shaft, no matter at what angle we turned the prop it was a right fiddle.. however on the rear it was great.
The drive down the mountain valley this morning to the station was adream .. no more rattle scrape, bump n baging, no phantom tick tock noises from the gear box and a much lower sound from the rear axle, one thing i did find was that the castle-ated nut on the output shaft was very very loose. So much so that with the split pin removed i was able to take it off by hand.. so i did this up not to a torque setting but by eye and feel.
Front bumper looks great, although I have to drill new holes for the towing eyes & the door mirrors took around 10 minutes each ( the hinges were already the right type, so I have 2 spares if anyone is looking for such)
One last thing about Paddocks, this time they sent me 3 times too many nuts n bolts compared to last time where i had 8 bolts and only 7 nuts!! so that was nice. I have also had a lot of agro with UPS in the past with them charging me extra, not for weight but volume - having paid the flat £20 charge per package sometimes having to pay anything upwards of another £90.
Paddocks are now using DPD .. soooo much better, no xtra charge and 2 days earlier than promised.
Take care folks
Blessing from up the Alp
Simon
