Are we talking propane injection on a diesel or a petrol?
Diesel has no oxygen on the fuel molecule(unlike biodiesel) so needs all its air to achieve anything near a clean burn-surely diluting the air with propane(which also has no oxygen)you will just make it run richer and smoke,or does the turbo supply such an excess of air that there is still enough for both diesel and propane to burn completely?

thing is no diesel engine burns all the fuel..adding the propane helps to near full burning of the diesel fuel.this is where the gains are to be had.its not the calorific content of the propane cas you dont inject much atall..

google it..its used alot in usa and australia on the big rigs..works wonders.reduces smoke, aids power or mpg (your right foot decides)

and yes post about no injection pump was valid,but i am assuming original poster can work around such details..if not then best not atempt...
 

Interesting article James.Seems to concur basically with what I was saying.If I wanted to have a play and throw caution to the wind I would go for Nitrous or Oxygen as the additive(doubt you would be allowed on the road with Oxygen injection:D)-I dump Oxygen at work as a byproduct from Nitrogen generators-if only I had a way to feed it into my inlet manifold-seems such a waste
 
If you fit it yourself as a kit, your insurers will more than likely want an engineers report. The emphasis will be on the tank installation which you cannot do unless qualified. By the time you've done all this you might as well take the vehicle to a garage that does these conversions professionally. I'm not doubting your ability to do the job, but I can't see that it's financially viable to do it yourself. Then there is the resale value of the vehicle, who's going to buy a TD5 running on gas?

most insurers dont give a hoot..the ones that do just require a safty cert..same as lpg installation in petrol motor..its no different..

there are as of yet no qualifications required to install lpg..the man down the pub you gave a tenna to can do it..

if you follow the published safty /install guidelines and are competent mechanic then installing lpg is easy..really easy..setting it up is where the hard part is..

ps i disadgree with key to life..its your mrs being the one you love and vise versa..(and joing in with this stupid land rover thing!) arseholes are a part of life..atleast in london they is..

yes but they are totally not correct...THEY are advertising their own product..which has been hurt by people not buying it and going for propane injection..they are BIASED..its an advert..

true the more modern the diesel engine the more efficient it is, thus the propane injection becomes less effective..BUT if after power then one remaps the ecu and upgrades turbo, intercooler etc...then the propane can really make a difference..

they state 4 to 1 on propane to diesel..thats rather high unless at full tilt..

40mpg in a 2 ton range rover on muds and running 2 inch lift...or more power than a 3.9v8...speaks for itself really..
