Anything I should know before I swap mi propshafts for new uns.

I have ordered some rubber things anorl to try and stem the flow of oil out of the bit where they join the axle.

I did order new nuts and bolts and one of them there long spannery things to tighten them.

Sorry if its all a bit teknicul.

I need to change my rear prop anorl but I'm a bit worried that all the new one are rubbish. I've heard stories of the uj's only lasting months, what's that all about? Why do you need one of them long spannery things to undo the nuts.

Don’t think you ‘need’ one, they just make it easier or so I’ve urd. Not sure why a socket on a shaft int the same thing but as they are only a tenner I got one. Also got a new set of fasteners as they are nylocks and don’t fancy re using the old ens.
I got the pair from Bearmach. Not sure how good they are but I like their gear for the price and as it’s the inney and outy bits rather than the twirly round bits that have gone on mine so I can always put good bearings in them if they go.

I had to get the dremel on the prop nuts at the rear diff end. Fancy tool, mallets and sockets were having none of it.
I bought new front and rear props - Hardy Spicers if I remember correctly and reasonable priced. The front has a wiper boot on it which will save having to replace the concertina type every other year as they perish

Best to also replace the metal dust cover that protects the rubber seal from all the road crud.

I bought one of those fancy long sockets but I found a slim ring spanner and a good quality open ended together with a large bar work better. I turn the prop and lock it with the bar then spanner off the nuts and bolts. If you are stripping the prop make sure you get the u/js lined up right as a pair on each shaft.

they do make it easier and fit better especially if yokes dont offer much clearance
