would I still be advised to remove the prop shaft to avoid future
damage Has done 107000 ks

its not necessary if yu know the VCU is sound - but keep checking.
Having sed that - lots of peeps do, to get better fuel consumption and performance during the summer.
There is an argument to say "why buy a 4wd of you disconnect half?"

oh - and dont forget insurance implications.

I'm stumped.

And I think the fuel might be a redherring. There's a thread on this on the Freelander Club forum and their roadtesting with/without seems to suggest not much improvement.
