welcome to my thread, i have a 1986 land rover 90 with a 3.5 v8. i recentley read a post by defender sam on his rebuild of his 1989 (http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/project-1989-90-bruce-197591.html) and this inspired me, my 90 is getting tired, structurely strong but alot of other problems so needs a good rebuild, i am posting on here because i would like to see what you all think and for help and advice.
if you see anyways i can improve things then please let me know

ahh thanks glad I've inspired someone, it looks like a great starting point anyway. whats the plan then take it off the road for a full rebuild? or just rewire and a tidy up, either way its going to be great plenty of pics and good luck :p would have loved to V8 mine;)

Mine looks tireder than that anorl but is mechanically perfect I have replaced almost everything over the last four years, I dont worry about cosmetic stuff cos its less likely to be nicked if its tatty.
Looks well within range of a rolling rebuild to me or woz you thinking complete strip down.
When I bought mine I was thinking to rechassis it but it has only evr needed a few tiny plates to MOT so I went off the idea. I have scraped and painted the chassis tho and filled it inside with dinitrol.
Looks a lott of fun whatever you ends up doing with it, will be a great drive with V8 if you dont mind paying for the fuel.

well i know it looks okai but i bought the car in may from my dad, unfortunately my dad passed away in august. it was never a real big off roader to him it was always going to be this v8 show piece so the plan is the have the thing gleaming, like i said structually sound but mechanically is not, my dad bought a v8 disco to use the engine as a donor as this ones engine was very legit shall we say so when he passed away off she went to the garage with the v8 discos engine had the disco engine fully rebuilt and put on carbs, all being good but doesnt help when everything attached to it is destroyed, atm she is off the road until driffield landy show. in this time i want to recon the gearbox, get new props, recon steering box and pump and a new front bumper. but it is going to become a rolling project as i use it as my everyday runner :)/ thank god i live at home) ill hopefully post some pictures up in the next day or so. yes sam i also need to tipy that damn wiring up, gunna try and repair first and if it fails will have to buy a new one. but yes thanks sam you deffinately inspired me. hope you are going to take bruce to one of the landy shows this year.

cheers steve
